- The Pace is nice, just bring >$500 for one. And some of those older Wellers,
- even tho running the heater on 24volts, can have kilovolt, subnanosecond
- rise time noises on the tip when the tc switch cycles. I've not only
- measured it, I've blown cmos chips all to hell with one of them which was
- at the time plugged into a properly grounded outlet, and tip to ground
- continuity verified as being good after the fact. The device was sitting on
- a grounded static mat with no metallic connections external to the mat at
- the time. The later, ultra lite weight one with the variable dial is the
- earliest one I'd trust around sensitive electronics. Thats the one that
- gradually gets colder in its old age, if it actually achieves "old age",
- most of them didn't.
